Owner and Medical Director

Dr. Deanna (Dee) Greer is Birch Island's fear-free certified Medical Director. She graduated in 1996 from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced in New York, California, and for the last 20 years in Jacksonville. She finished her specialty degree in 2005 and is a member of ABVP specializing in feline and canine medicine and surgery. Dr. Dee lives in Julington Creek with her husband Michael and two sons Michael and Johnathan. The family also includes her dog Churro, three cats, and assorted fish. Her veterinary special interests include; soft tissue surgery, internal medicine in particular skin disease, behavior medicine, and pocket pets. Dr. Dee's non-veterinary interests include; anything outdoors, baseball (especially the New York Yankees!), traveling, skiing, cross-stitching, reading a good mystery novel, and most of all being a mom!

Associate Veterinarian

Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Jennifer Pallozzi moved to Florida to enroll at the University for Florida where she earned her BS and DVM in 1999. Loving the Florida weather, she continued to live and practice in the state, first working in Ocala for a few years, then moving to Jacksonville where she's practiced and resided ever since. Dr. Pallozzi is very passionate about her work, knowing from a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Her care, kindness, patience & sincerity in combination with her 20+ years of experience and knowledge make her a wonderfully fitting addition to our team. During her free time, Dr. Pallozzi likes to relax and recharge on the water, reading a good book or going to country music concerts. When not spending time with her two rescue Labrador Retrievers and human family, she loves to cheer on the Jacksonville Jaguars (but also continues to support her native NY Yankees).

Dr. Gabrielle Van Antwerp joined our team in 2024. After graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2021, Dr. Van Antwerp moved to Jacksonville where she began her career as a veterinarian in a small animal general practice. Her passion is embracing & enhancing the bond animals and humans share. This has encouraged her special interest in geriatric and preventative medicine, both areas that keep our pets healthy & happy throughout their lives. Alongside that, Dr. Van Antwerp shares our veterinary team's vision of a Fear-Free manner of care which offers a more comfortable, stress-free visit for her patients. Her kindness, thoughtfulness & sincerity are forefront in her approach to building lasting relationships with clients and their pets. When out of the office, Dr. Van Antwerp values spending time with her husband Dax and Castle their Great Dane as well as going to the gym, traveling with friends and soaking up the Florida sunshine.

Associate Veterinarian

Originally from New York, Dr. Maillet moved south to attend the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 2018. In high school, a love for helping both animals and people ignited his passion to pursue a career in veterinary care, and he’s been dedicated to it ever since. Dr. Maillet is Fear Free certified and has a special knack for working with shy or anxious pets, creating a calm and supportive experience for them. The variety in day-to-day cases, the bonds he builds with patients, and the ability to support and educate owners during their pet’s wellness journey are all opportunities that Dr. Maillet truly values. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his three cats and two dogs. In addition to his furry family, he also tends to his large succulent plant collection.

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Gavron recently graduated from the Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine. Born and raised in Atlantic Beach, FL, she can’t wait to rejoin the Jacksonville community. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, ophthalmology, and cardiology, and she specializes in in-house ultrasound, echocardiography, and end-of-life care. Dr. Gavron has two dogs, Teddy and River, and two cats, Alfie and Chubbs. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, watching college football, and listening to true-crime podcasts.

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Borger has been caring for animals nearly all her life. Her career started at the age of 13 working as a vet tech in her home town of Belleville, Illinois. In 2015 she graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grand Cayman, then moved to Florida to continue her life’s work. For the past 5 years she has focused on exotic animal medicine, with a special interest in soft tissue surgery. Her expertise includes reptiles such as snakes, turtles, tortoises & lizards plus mammals like sugar gliders, chinchillas, ferrets & hedgehogs.

​​​​​​​Dr. Borger lives with her husband Robert and daughter Riley. The family includes a yellow lab named Jethro and an African Gray Parrot named Jake. In her spare time, Dr. Borger enjoys swimming, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.
